Britney Spears' Gimme More

Britney Spears' Gimme More
Britney Spears' new single could debut next week.
The new track is not the recently leaked ballad, 'Baby Boy', but an up-tempo dance track called 'Gimme More' produced by Timbaland protégé Nate 'Danjahandz' Hills.
A source, who claims the song will be released in September, said: "People are going to love this new track. It is a whole new funky dance sound."
'Gimme More' was the reported working title of the music video Britney filmed in July.
Another source who has heard the track said: "This is going to be a huge hit. Britney will come back with a bang."
Insiders say Britney already has "more than enough material" for her fifth studio album, and is planning to surprise fans with a comeback by releasing it this autumn with no promotional build-up.
Britney - who is currently facing a bitter custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline for sons Sean Preston, 23-months, and Jayden James, 11-months - also worked with other producers, including J.R. Rotem, on her new material.

Teddy Ebersol-teddy ebersol

Teddy Ebersol died Sunday, November 28, in the crash of a private plane near Telluride, Colorado. He was 14 years old.

Christened Edward Bright Ebersol, but known as “Teddy” to family and friends, he was born on June 10, 1990, in Torrington, Connecticut. Through eighth grade, he was a student at Washington Montessori School in Washington, Connecticut. This fall, he entered the freshman class at The Gunnery, a boarding school also in Washington, near the Ebersol family’s hometown of Litchfield.

Teddy was a deeply cherished son to Susan and Dick; and youngest brother to his sister, Sunshine, and to his brothers Harmony, Charlie, and Willie. In an autobiography he penned as an eighth-grade writing assignment, Teddy wrote.

Santa Barbara-Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara , city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850. A beautiful residential and resort city with many recreational facilities, it also has electronics and aerospace research and development firms, and an orchid industry. Oil fields are in the area and offshore. The region was discovered by Juan Cabrillo in 1542 and explored and named in 1602. A Spanish presidio, remnants of which remain, was founded there in 1782. The Spanish mission (established in 1786; present building completed in 1820) is a major tourist attraction. Santa Barbara is known for its prevalent Spanish architecture. Points of interest include a “street in Spain” shopping area, an undersea aquarium, and many parks and gardens. The Univ. of California at Santa Barbara and Westmont College are just outside the city limits. Santa Barbara is headquarters of the Los Padres National Forest in the Santa Ynez Mts., which rise behind the city. In Feb., 1942, oil tanks in Santa Barbara harbor were the object of a Japanese submarine attack. In Jan., 1969, an oil leak in an offshore drilling platform in the Santa Barbara Channel brought great destruction to the city's harbor and beaches.

Nokia-Nokia 770 Internet Tablet

Nokia-Nokia 770 Internet Tablet

It's been a long quest, the search for the perfect handheld device has. It dates back to the late 1990s for me and has seen a progression of PDAs, smartphones, and Pocket PCs through my house—much to the consternation of my wife. At one time, my Palm V served me well. But that was before the days of wireless connectivity. The Palm Vx came out and changed all that, and so the search continued.

Earlier this year, my quest led me to the Audiovox XV6600. The bright 320x240 color screen, Windows Mobile OS, and Verizon EV-DO high-speed data network were attractive. However, the lower-resolution screen feels constrained to me sometimes, and the bundled version of Internet Explorer chokes on any number of websites. And when my travels led me out of reach of Verizon's high-speed network, I was forced to rely on the old standby of a laptop and WiFi for 'Net access.

Given the nature of my quest, when Nokia announced its new Nokia 770 "Internet Tablet" last Spring, I was intrigued to say the least. It sounded impressive: a bright, high-resolution color display, built-in 802.11b/g connectivity, a web browser and e-mail application, all in a relatively small package. When they became available in the US, I got my hands on one to see if it could be the holy grail of handhelds.

The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet on its stand

So what exactly is an Internet Tablet?

The Nokia 770 measures 5.5in. x 3.1in x 0.7in and weighs in at a hair over 8 ounces. It also has a 4.13in. LCD display, and what a display it is: 16-bit color at 800x480. It runs something called "Internet Tablet 2005 Software Edition" which is actually a tweaked version of Debian. It comes with a fair amount of bundled applications including a web browser (Opera), e-mail client, audio and video players, image viewer, RSS reader, Internet radio player, and more.

Hardware-wise, the specs seemed a bit light for what it promised. It has 128MB of flash RAM, of which half is available to the user. An additional 64MB of RAM is available via a reduced-size MultiMediaCard. The CPU is the ARM-based TI 1710 OMAP, running at 250MHz. Is that enough for the functionality the 770 aims to provide? More on that later.

ADS 10” Powered Single Reflex Subwoofer

ADS 10” Powered Single Reflex Subwoofer

After a while we took in the clothes
Nobody said very much
There was an ADS 10” Powered Subwoofer
300 Watts (RMS) that nobody wanted to touch
It was still in the box, the HT10ps 300 Watts Powered Subwoofer
Which nobody really wanted to touch.
Mama come in and plugged it in
An’ Papa said she should use them Polks
“We bought ‘em online a few weeks ago,” Papa said
“Well, lets see if they really works”
They worked pretty well as far as sound went
We also had some good speaker line
It was August the twenty-ninth
And the Woot-off was goin’ fine

The next day everybody got up
Listened to the heavy bass a’roll
A forums neighbor posted a “Do Not Want” macro
Mama, of course, she said, “Hello!”
“Have you heard the news?” he said, with a grin,
“There’s a rumor about a bag o’ crap!”
“When?” “Next item.” “Really?” “Probably not.”
“Well, people are always sayin’ that.”
“Well, there’s nothin’ we can do to find out faster,” said the neighbor,
“It’s just somethin’ we might never get know.”
“Yes, I guess so,” said Ma,
Then she asked me how low that subwoofer could go.

I said “20 – 200Hz, 1Db is the frequency it gets.”
And the neighbor said “Wow, that sounds grand”
I said, “It’s the 10” paper cone with 50oz magnets”
And he said, “Ya always such a big audiophile?”
I said, “Sometime, not all the time.”
Then my neighbor, he blew his nose
Just as papa yelled outside,
“Mama wants you t’ come back in the house and don’t you make another
joke ‘bout Bose.”
Well, I left my neighbor to his rumors
And watch the forums explode
I hugged my ADS HT10ps 300 Watts (RMS) 10” Powered Subwoofer
And left the front door closed.

The queen of the damned

The queen of the damned

His thirst for life enchanted her.

His thirst for fame awoke her.

His thirst for power may kill us all.

Legendary Vampire Lestat (STUART TOWNSEND) has risen from a decades-long slumber, determined to step out into the light. No longer content with being banished to the shadows, moving among mortals who never truly see him for what he is, Lestat has reinvented himself as the closest thing to a god on Earth: a rock star.

The intoxicating lure of his music has snaked its way around the globe, ultimately finding the ear of the slumbering ancient Queen Akasha (AALIYAH) in her crypt beneath the Arctic ice. Mother of all Vampires, Akasha has been resting for centuries, waiting for the right time to rise again and seize dominion over the world. Lestatís music is the revelation she has been waiting for, and she desires that he rule beside her.

But can Akasha be stopped? Her malevolent power may be too great for even the most ancient of the immortal Vampires to combat - she created them, and their survival depends on her own.

After all, Akasha is used to getting everything she wants... and all she wants is Hell on Earth.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures and NPV Entertainment, a Material Production, Queen of the Damned starring STUART TOWNSEND, AALIYAH and MARGUERITE MOREAU, with VINCENT PEREZ and LENA OLIN. Directed by MICHAEL RYMER, the film is produced by JORGE SARALEGUI; the screenplay is by SCOTT ABBOTT and MICHAEL PETRONI, based on The Vampire Chronicles by ANNE RICE; the Executive Producers are SU ARMSTRONG, ANDREW MASON, BILL GERBER and BRUCE BERMAN; the Director of Photography is IAN BAKER; the Production Designer is GRAHAM "GRACE" WALKER; the Editor is DANY COOPER; with music by RICHARD GIBBS and JONATHAN DAVIS.

Rate My Professors at My College

The idea is simple. What if students could rate their professors based on their teaching proficiency? What if bad teachers could be exposed before students had to bare the burden of their shortcomings? And, what if there was a place where students could recommend good professors to fellow students? With Campushopper.com's Grade My Professors, the creators hope to help answer the recurring question that students face each semester, "Who should I take for my classes and what can I expect?"
It's hard to know what to expect from most college professors, and too often do students have to struggle through poorly taught classes. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh in the fall of 2003, and I can attest to this first hand. I had a graduate level computer class whose teacher only showed up for half the classes. He wasn't present to answer our questions or to explain the material. A group of my fellow students and I had to go before the dean to get the matter resolved. The department didn't force the teacher to come to the class. Instead, they just gave almost all of the students a passing grade.
As often reflected when students rate their professors online, situations like this happen often in college. Just ask Beth Meyer, a junior at Mississippi State University. "All of my teachers are foreign this semester," Beth says. "This doesn't matter to me, except that I often can't understand two of them, and I end up missing a lot of the lecture. Why do American universities hire teachers who can't effectively communicate the material?" Beth told me that she wanted to go to the department chair, but she hesitated because she felt that it might seem racist.
Many teachers are speaking out against sites that allow students to rate their college professors, citing that they are being unfairly critiqued by students who are unwilling to learn.
"Sure, there are a few questionable posts," says Grade My Professor's co-creator Kevin Lang. "That's why we have an option where users can flag inappropriate and vulgar comments...we want to be fair to everyone." Kevin also says that in the same regard, it's obvious that a lot of teachers are grading themselves with near perfect scores, which is in turn rather unfair to the students.
In the end, Campushopper.com's Grade My Professors is another useful and unforeseen tool that has emerged because of the internet. It's giving once silent students a voice in bringing both bad and good professors into the radar of their classmates.
